The Yahoo! Directory is a human-created and maintained library of web sites organized into categories and subcategories. Yahoo! editors review these sites and select the best place to list them.

Step 1

Check to see if your site is in the Yahoo! Directory. To see if your site is listed in the Directory, go to search.yahoo.com and click the "Directory" tab. Type your site's URL into the box and click the "Search" button. The Directory listing for your web site will appear in your results. The link labeled "  More sites about " lets you know what category your site is in. Click on that link to see the list of sites in the same category. You can also start searching the Yahoo! Directory from dir.yahoo.com. If your site is already listed in the Yahoo! Directory and you would like to suggest a change to your site listing, please use our online change form.

Step 2

Find the appropriate category in the Yahoo! Directory. Remember that Yahoo! editors visit each site suggested via Yahoo! Directory Submit, and proper categorization on your part helps us process and review your suggestions quickly. What is an appropriate category? Here's a list of important pointers explaining how to find the appropriate category and information on how categories are organized in the Yahoo! Directory.

Step 3

Suggest your site from the appropriate category. Just click on the "Suggest a Site" link at the bottom of the category page. Also, remember that the final placement of your site is determined by Yahoo!'s editors. When you click on "Suggest a Site" in the appropriate category, you'll see an online form asking for information about your site. (If you are suggesting your business site somewhere within our main commercial categories, you will see a link to the fee-based Yahoo! In the "category" space on the form, you'll see the name of the category you've chosen. Please be prepared to provide information including your site title, URL, and a brief description.
